If you haven’t guessed already, I love birds. And apparently, I’m in good company. I found the “bird nerd” over at ChelseArt. She also loves her birds. Check out these beauties:

Aster + Sage April 10, 2009

I am a huge fan of line and color. In fact, I would say that these are the primary forces in my mixed media work. I found this wonderful site recently that really caught my eye. I love the springy-ness of these lovely flowers,

and the fact that they are recycled is even more appealing to me. You can check out more of these fantastic blossoms and such at Aster + Sage. It’s a great little shop with lots of goodies to offer.

Fabulous Desktop Wallpapers! March 25, 2009

I love to change up my computer wallpaper. I get tired of seeing the same thing over and over. I just discovered this really sweet site – The Kindred Site. They have terrific desktop wallpapers by artists who have been brought together through common interests. And the best part is, all the wallpapers are free for you to download!

My personal favorite is by Shannon Gass. Isn’t it to die for?

But then there is also this one from Holly Becker:

I am generally not drawn to ceramics, it’s just not usually my thing. But when I ran across Emily Dyer’s work, I fell in love with her delightful designs. I think they are just right for spring. And as if that’s not enough incentive to purchase one of these cute pieces, she is having a sale in her Etsy shop right now! It doesn’t get much better than that!

Birdy Matchbooks

Birdy Matchbooks

And while we’re on the subject of spring, I just can pass up the opportunity to share these adorable little matchbooks with you. Who can resist these sweet peepers?! The Paper Princess has some of the cutest vintage things around, as far as I’m concerned. While you’re there, be sure to check out her cards and tags too. Can’t you just see using these is so many fantastic ways?

Thinking Spring

As Spring is beginning to lift it’s head around here, I am starting to think of the backyard, the garden, the lovely entertaining and mojitos that will be served under the pergola this summer. We’ve been looking for solar powered Japanese lanterns and finally found these little beauties over at Rittenhouse. I have a feeling they will be swinging in the breeze under the pergola this summer.lanternlit

Here we are again at the beginning of March. I can smell the dampness of the earth, feel the change in the wind, and I am aching to get out there and set up the garden. Alas, it’s too early. The almanac says I need to wait.

So I’ve channelled that energy into a new collage – it’s still a work in progress, but it certainly has to do with spring. I’m hoping to create a series based on the concept of nesting.  I’ll give you a peek at the current work:dsc_00031

We’ll have to see how they look, but I can see a nest of shredded money, a nest of fibers, a magpie roost, all sorts of things. I’ll be setting aside some work days soon. Come on spring!

The weather here in Indy has changed and I have the feeling that spring is just around the corner. I dragged out all the seed starting materials in order to start my peppers, leeks and asters this week. I have a huge garden and love to be outdoors in it.

I stumbled across David Wiseman over at Design Sponge
